I was trying to decide what to create last night and noticed my origami paper nearby.  I’ve been telling myself for nearly a year that I would learn to do some origami while I was here in Japan but have never really felt like trying the new technique.  Well, it occurred to me while I looked at the package of origami paper, precut for beginners like me, was that Easter was approaching and I had yet to do anything to decorate.  (It may seem like a no-brainer to most of you, but I don’t have kids in my life and church is a little difficult to keep up with out here so the holidays and weeks all blur into each other for me.)  What better way to celebrate spring and new beginnings (and Christ’s resurrection) by learning a new technique and creating flowers to brighten up my rather sparse place?  I got online and searched for “origami flowers”.  I found this gem of a site that has instructions for all sorts of origami projects.  Using the pattern for the lily, I made my first origami flower, an Easter lily.  Let’s see how much more I can make to brighten up my life by Easter…
